Another Day Trip with just Gloria and I heading out west on I-10 to Katy. Our first stop was the Katy RR Depot.
Next stop in Katy was to Heritage Park to view historic restored houses and post office.
The reason I took a picture of this fence was because it reminded me of my grandmother's fence in her front yard in Louisiana.
Then on our way of of town we spotted the Bolin Chapel, "The Prettiest Old Church in Texas."
Next stop -- Richmond where we encountered a beautiful old RR trestle.
Then on to Decker Park which houses the RR Depot.
And the Richmond Police Department which is an example of the Romanesque architectual style.
In town we encountered the Moore Home, of neo-classical design,
the Long-Smith Cottage, home of Jane Long, Mother of Texas,
the McFarlane House,
and the Richmond Courthouse
Next stop -- Rosenberg RR Depot
Then over to the Another Time old fashion soda fountain where I had the best chili dog and Gloria the Reuben. And of course we had to have a milk shake to go!
Heading down the road to Wharton we spotted a surprise -- The TeePee Motel
Stopped off to view Dan Rather's Boyhood Home
The Wharton County Courthouse
Another trestle RR bridge
At Dinosaur Park, Gloria tickled the dinosaur
Then ended our trip at the Wharton RR Depot
We had a great day and the weather couldn't have been any better. Looking for the rest of the retiree group joining us next time.
